Ray of Sunshine, Ray of Hope: NEHA’s Hope Edu care
Our Free edu care centres catering to the need of the 500 plus children in the rural areas of Bengal. We call our Edu care centres as NEHA’s HOPE. NEHA stands for Nurturing Education and Healing Approach.
In our Edu-care centre the free tuition classes are held either during the morning time before the kids go to the school or in the in the afternoon/evening time, i.e. after the kids come back from the school. The kids are given value-based education. Not only the centres take care about their academic development but also extra care is taken for their overall development.
Co-curricular activities are held. Various activities like songs and dances , Skit and drama, rhyme and recitation are taught. There they learn how to love and respect parents and other elderly people, one's own country and how to live a life based on true moral values and ethical principles. Children Club are also held in these centres especially during the vacation in their schools. On every Saturdays in our centre, where the students learn various disciplines in the Children Club.
Mid-Term and Annual Examinations are conducted:
In the month of august mid-term and in the month of November/ December Annual examination are conducted in our centers on school subjects with the objective of evaluating of the students academically. It will help the center kids to get them prepared for their school curriculum. The tutors take utmost care for their academic performance and especially fpr the weaker students those who have poor ability to learn.
Observation of World Environment Week by KMM Edu care students:
Every year KMM Edu care conduct 5th to 11th June as the World Environment Week.The main purpose of the activities carried on to make the village community aware about the conservation, preservation and protection of the environment. Secondly, to make the kids conscious about their surrounding environment and how they can take care in a small level. These activities are set to give first hand knowledge through doing practical. They must learn from their budding years about the responsibity as a human to look after and preserve the environment and our dear Earth.
Mostly they organise mainly by taking out rally on the village road with placards and slogans written on various issues about environment.
Both the teachers and the kids clear the area by taking away theweeds, sweeping the village roads, cleaning the ground, planting saplings, organising "Sit & Draw" Competition on environmental issues, Conducting Awareness Campaigns, etc.
Celebration and Observation of Special Days:
Indian Independence Day, Republic Day are all celebrated in our edu care centres to inculcate the patriotic spirit in the young minds of the kids. On these days we celebrate by hoisting National flag, singing of National Anthem. The center-in Charge of the respective areas emphasised on the real meaning of Independence in their speeches.
On 5th of September Teachers day is celebrated all over India and also in our edu care centres to show love and respect to the teachers. Teachers distributed snacks and all of them had a lovely time of sweet bonding and with a dedication from the part of the students to do better in their education and other spheres of their life.
On 2nd of October like every year our edu care kids celebrated birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with much respect and honour. The teachers inculcated in them the teachings of Gandhi that how to overcome evil with the concept of good principle.
Children's Day is celebrated across India on 14th November to increase awareness of the rights, care and education of children as a tribute to India's First Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Our edu kids also celebrated the day with much joy and refreshment were given to them. Teachers gave short speeches regarding the importance of education in nation building and building the lives and careers of the children
Children learning, laughing and enjoying their extra-curricular activities:
In our free edu care centres not only academic and spiritual aspects of the students are taken care of, each centre teachers give their full attention to build up the kids in various sphere of lives. As such to enhance their potentiality in creative works art and crafts classes and special class on recitation and songs are held in our various centres regularly. Children produce beautiful work of craft in the centres. The kids enjoy all of these activities and had a nice time of recreation in our centres.
Health and Hygiene:
In one of our centre in West Midnapur district, centre kids were given special care and teaching regarding their personal hygiene. The centre tutors checked and helped the student to learn some simple things like combing their hairs, trimming nails, brushing their teeth, washing their hands properly, etc.
They also participated in various indigenous rural sports and games to keep themselves fit and energetic.Some of these indegenous sports and games of rural India are dying and KMM personel take atmost care to revive some of the rural games and teach them to our kids.
